Midwifery is a regulated profession in the UK, both for independent midwives and those working within the NHS.

All midwives are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, our governing body. We are bound by The Midwives Rules and Standards and The Code of Professional Conduct which guarantees that we practice safely and professionally.

We are required to update our skills and knowledge with current research based practice to stay registered.

Independent Midwives are currently forced to practice without Indemnity Insurance. This means that we are personally liable for any negligence claim made against us.
